A busy week ahead!

April 23, 2007

Hi everyone: We just finished a busy weekend and the week ahead holds more activities and events as we draw close to the end of the school year. Saturday we hosted a dance for 7th and 8th grade students and had approximately 950 show up. Thanks to all the parents who helped in so many ways. Also on Saturday Coach Tom Brell and the Academy tennis team took on Findlay Junior High in a match in Findlay. Sunday saw the “Sundaes with Mom” gathering where students and their moms enjoyed an all you can eat sundae bar along with an Academy version of “The Amazing Race” with prizes for all. Again, thanks to the moms who spent a great deal of time organizing another enjoyable event.

This week is packed with activities. Tuesday the guys will enjoy getting together with their “Big Brothers” from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for pizza and battleball and games.

Wednesday the 7th grade leave for their class trip to Chicago. A finalized itinerary and hotel information is being sent home today. They will return home late Thursday nigfht and they are excused from school on Friday. Also on Wednesday is the 8th grade retreat, which will take place at the Desales Center in Brooklyn, Michigan. The groups will go up on the school bus, but we are depending on parents to drive the students back at 3:00 p.m. We are in need of one more parent to drive–if you can help please let me know asap! Wednesday’s activities conclude with a CYO track meet that we are hosting here at school that out 8th grade track team members will participate in.

Thursday night fourteen 8th grade students will be attending the “Student Night at the Opera” presentation of “Tosca” at 7:00 p.m. at the Valentine Theater.

On Saturday we will have our spring “Academy/Big Brother” paintball outing at the paintball field’s new location–7205 Nebraska Ave. The cost is $30.00 for the day and it will run from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. A pizza lunch is included. Come for as little or as long as you can. A flyer with complete information will go home with the guys this week.

Finally, the week concludes with the “Spring Band Concert” at 2:00 p.m. in the main chapel at school. The Academy band members will be performing along with the high school bands.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions–I know it’s hard for me to keep all of these events in order!

Enjoy the week.
